Maharaja
Restaurant is located on the peak of Mount Batur in Penelokan Kintamani.
Penelokan means " the place to look" at 1.450 meters (4.800
ft) above sea level. It is surrounded by breathtaking view of the area,
to the East is the majestic Mount Batur (1.717 m or 5.635 ft above sea
level) and its crater lake of 11 km (7miles) in diameter and 180 meters
(115 ft) deep. To the West is vast view of the orange/citrus plantation
cultivated by the villagers.
Maharaja Restaurant seats up to 700 persons, serving delightful lunch
buffets daily consisting of Chinese and Western cuisines like Soups, Salads,
Spring Rolls, Grilled Satays, various meat dishes, chicken dishes, fish,
shrimp crackers, vegetables, fresh fruits, Balinese cookies, hot tea and
Balinese coffee. The Maharaja Bar serves beers, liquors and soft drinks.
With
large glass windows around the restaurant you can enjoy viewing the serene
beauty of the majestic and mysterious volcano and its large crater lake.
The large patio of the restaurant offers you an open space where you can
breathe the cool and fresh mountain air or take picture with the volcano
at the background.
Before or after lunch at the Maharaja Restaurant you can drive down to
the village on the bank of the lake called " Toya Bungkah" where
there are hot springs and you can actually swim in open-air hot water
pools.
For the during few,
a trip to Trunyan across the lake may be worthwhile. This is where the
villagers do not bury their dead, but just leave them under a sacred tree.
Around Kintamani you may visit one of the orange plantations to see how
oranges or citrus are cultivated. The usually have fruits to sell by the
roadside near their gardens
