Days Trek to Mt. Welirang

ITINERARY

01 = SURABAYA - TRETES - PONDOK WELIRANG (L / D) |

Upon
arrival in Surabaya (must be early flight-no later than
8h00), meet and greet assistance by our experienced trekking
guide then direct transfer in private minivan to Tretes
where you will be dropped off behind Surya Hotel and Cottages
from which we are to start trekking to the first stop at
Kop-Kopan, a water spring, to have picnic-style lunch. The
trail is rather steep and stony but it is clearly marked
as it has been roamed by traditional sulfur-miners extracting
sulfur blocks from the crater. After lunch, continue walking
to reach Pondok Welirang (makeshift huts used by sulfur
porters to stay overnight) by late afternoon around 16.00.
We will have our dinner and set our tent here. |

02 = PONDOK WELIRANG - SUMMIT - TRETES - SURABAYA (B / L)

after taking simple breakfast start climbing to Mt. Welirang's
flat crater complex. The first one we pass is extinct but
a bit higher up is much bigger, active crater from which
the sulfur is mined. At the highest point, the view is marvelous.
Upon completion, down to Pondok Welirang to have lunch and
to reorganize the luggage. After lunch, further down to
Tretes where you will be collected by our driver and will
be transferred further down to Surabaya. |

Mt. WELIRANG = Camping/Tent (01 night only).

We can also organize a more comprehensive program by combining
Mt. Welirang (3.152 m) and the nearby Mt. Arjuna (3.339 m).
Such a trekking program usually takes 4 Days / 3 Nights to accomplish.
